CyberSec First Responder™

This course covers network defense and incident response methods, tactics, and procedures that are in alignment with industry frameworks such as NIST 800-61r2 (Computer Security Incident Handling Guide), US-CERT's National Cyber Incident Response Plan (NCIRP), and Presidential Policy Directive (PPD)-41 on Cyber Incident Coordination. 

It is ideal for candidates who have been tasked with the responsibility of monitoring and detecting security incidents in information systems and networks, and for executing standardized responses to such incidents. The course introduces tools, tactics, and procedures to manage cybersecurity risks, identify various types of common threats, evaluate the organization's security, collect and analyze cybersecurity intelligence, and remediate and report incidents as they occur. This course provides a comprehensive methodology for individuals responsible for defending the cybersecurity of their organization.

Python Programming: Introduction

Python® has been around for decades, but it's still one of the most versatile and popular programming languages out there. Whether you're relatively new to programming or have been developing software for years, Python is an excellent language to add to your skill set. In this course, you'll learn the fundamentals of programming in Python, and you'll develop applications to demonstrate your grasp of the language.


Course Objectives
In this course, you will develop simple command-line programs in Python. You will:

  • Set up Python and develop a simple application.
  • Declare and perform operations on simple data types, including strings, numbers,and dates.
  • Declare and perform operations on data structures, including lists, ranges, tuples,dictionaries, and sets.
  • Write conditional statements and loops.
  • Define and use functions, classes, and modules.
  • Manage files and directories through code.
  • Deal with exceptions.

Cyber Secure Coder

The stakes for software security are very high, and yet many development teams deal with software security only after the code has been developed and the software is being prepared for delivery. As with any aspect of software quality, to ensure successful implementation, security and privacy issues should be managed throughout the entire software development lifecycle.
This course presents an approach for dealing with security and privacy throughout the entire software development lifecycle. You will learn about vulnerabilities that undermine security, and how to identify and remediate them in your own projects. You will learn general strategies for dealing with security defects and misconfiguration, how to design software to deal with the human element in security, and how to incorporate security into all phases of development.


Course Objectives:
In this course, you will employ best practices in software development to develop secure software. You will:

  • Identify the need for security in your software projects.
  • Eliminate vulnerabilities within software.
  • Use a Security by Design approach to design a secure architecture for your software.
  • Implement common protections to protect users and data.
  • Apply various testing methods to find and correct security defects in your software.
  • Maintain deployed software to ensure ongoing security.

This course includes hands on activities for each topic area. The goal of these activities is to demonstrate concepts utilizing two universal languages Python and Java Script. Developers who use alternate languages will be able apply the principles from the activities to any coding languages.
